Mari SanGiovanni is the author of the comedy romance novels Greetings From Jamaica; Wish You Were Queer, Camptown Ladies, and 80% Done With Straight Girls. All published by Bywater Books.

Mari has written multiple screenplays and her original screenplay THE SIBLING RULE was made into a micro-budget, 52 minute film which Mari directed and produced through her production company, Love Is Love Productions, LLC.

THE SIBLING RULE

Storyline: Two women fake a gay marriage to keep their children in the same school together, but complications arise when the marriage becomes real.

The screenplay was selected by UK Film Festival, Best Script Award, and was a Semi-Finalist in the Big Apple film festival & Flickers RI, and a Quarter Finalist in Female Voices Rock. The film is now entering festivals for spring/summer 2023 and has been selected to be in the Independent Shorts Awards Los Angeles.

RETREAT, Mari’s current screenplay project will be filmed in the near future. ( Storyline: Two woman make an instant connection at a woman’s retreat, only to find that they are also connected by a recent tragedy).

WHEN NOT WRITING...

Mari grew up in RI with her large, crazy Italian family and is a RISD graduate. She currently resides outside of Boston, MA and RI and when she is not writing, Mari spends time with her family, friends, and dogs, walking the beach, painting, and making everyone laugh!
